HairTherapyWrap Review

Hey everybody,

I had the opportunity to try the HairTherapyWrap Cordless Thermal Turban Heat Wrap for deep conditioning and hydration.

The HairTherapyWrap was very easy to use. In just a few simple steps I had it put together heated up and on my head for my deep conditioning treatment. The wrap can be used for hot oil or other scalp treatments as well.

The HairTherapyWrap came with 3 gel packs, disposable plastic cap and of course directions.

There are two ways to heat the cap - the gel packs can be either put in boiling water for a few minutes before they are inserted into the wrap, or after they are inserted the entire cap can be put into a microwave to be heated. I chose the microwave method and in less than 45 seconds my wrap was heated and ready to wear.

I heated it for 32 seconds first, then checked to see how warm it was and then put it back in for 10 more seconds.

I love the fact that the HairTherapyWrap is cordless - I could walk around with it on - although I opted to sit and read :)

Once the wrap is heated the directions state to leave it on for 20 minutes. Throughout the 20 minutes the wrap stayed warm as well - which was great :)

I was very satisfied with the results. After I rinsed out the conditioner, my hair was super soft and moisturized and easy to detangle. I will add using the wrap to my monthly conditioning routine.

My completed style - two-strand twist updo :)

Wash N' Go Tips For All Hair Textures

Check out my latest post on the Carol's Daughter Transitioning Movement Site: Wash N' Go Tips for all Hair Types.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the result of your wash n’ go depends on how tight or loose your natural curl pattern is when your hair is wet. It’s key to understand that the product you use will not change your natural curl pattern.

In other words, if you have tight small ringlets when your hair is wet, the result of your wash n’ go will be tight small ringlets. If your hair is wavy and curls at the ends when wet, your wash n’ go will be wavy with curls on the ends, and so on. Therefore your wash n’go results are unique to you – your curl pattern.

Product Review - Nene’s Secret

Nene’s Secret is a new line of products for all types of hair. They are created by beauty industry veteran, Brian K. Marks and his wife, Nene Marks.

I had the opportunity to review the line and I loved the results. My favorites so far from the line are the Leave In Conditioner, Perfect Pretty Pudding and Curl Crème.

The products smell wonderful and are very light-weight – a little goes a long way. The products in the line range from $8.99 to $12.99, which is great.

Having created 5 successful brands, All Ways Natural, African Pride, Ginseng Miracle, 911 and Dr. Miracle’s, award-winning entrepreneur Brian K. Marks continues a 32-year career as a legend and innovator in the ethnic hair care business.

His wife and partner, Nene Marks, who was born in Liberia, has since retired from her career as a model and actress for African Pride, Molson, Captain Morgan and Dr. Miracle’s.

She was also featured in music videos alongside Jay-Z, The Fugees, Heavy D and others.

Together the pair has developed a complete hair care system combining trade secrets learned from their respective industries with the unparalleled hair care regimens passed down amongst generations of Nene’s African heritage.

The line consists of seven signature-fragranced products composed with an exclusive My Secret Recipe™.

This recipe is a blend of unique ingredients from Africa geared toward achieving healthy hair.

Check out what Nene had to say about her new product line …

“When I began to develop Nene’s Secret, I brought the best of my homeland with me as well as the experiences working with the top hair designers throughout the US in creating My Secret Recipe™.

It contains ingredients like Baobab Oil, Kalahari Melon Oil, and Ghanaian Chocolate, and was developed using the most advanced technology in hair care today. I am also happy to offer you the ability to experience my signature fragrance, which took me over a year to develop.”

Check out my video review ...

Chasing After Other People's Curl Pattern???

During my transitioning journey, I remember watching videos and visiting hair journey blogs and ooing and aahing over silky smooth curl patterns. I couldn’t wait until my transition was over so my very own silky smooth curls could be unleashed.

Throughout my transition, I slowly began to notice that the texture of my hair didn’t appear to be the same as those I had been drooling over on the blogs and videos. But I kept my eyes on the prize and just figured with a little training my texture could be whipped into shape.

I figured it was the products that these ladies were using that produced these silky smooth curls. So began my product scavenger hunt ...
Check out the rest of my new post on Carol's Daughter Transitioning Movement site and tell me your thoughts in the comment section  :)

Review: Motions’ New Straight Finish 3-Step Heat Styled System

I had the opportunity to review Motions New Straight Finish 3-Step Heat Styled System for natural hair textures.

Motions’ New Straight Finish 3-Step Heat Styled System for natural textures is a great alternative for straightening natural hair without the use of chemicals.

Using this system helps natural hair wearers easily transition from curly to straight hairstyles all while protecting their hair strands.

Motions Straight Finish Heat Styled System contains ingredients such as Shea butter, almond oil, coconut oil, Argan oil and keratin protein.

The system includes Motions Straight Finish Cleanser which gently cleans, softens and conditions hair making it more manageable; Motions Straight Finish Leave-In Conditioner, which contains Argan and coconut oil that moisturizes hair; and, Motions Straight Finish Sealer.

The Straight Finish Sealer helps to seal in moisture as well as protects the hair from heat damage.

Check out the following results on my niece's natural hair...

First I washed her hair with the Straight Finish Clenser ...

Check out her half mohawk. She shaved one side of her head and is now going through the long, arduous motions of growing it out - and believe me I warned her about that.

Anyway, next I added the Straight Finish Leave-in Conditioner, which moisturized her hair and made it super easy to detangle (top pics). Then I blow dried on low heat and added a little Straight Finish Sealer before flat ironing.

I curled her ends with the flat iron - check out how shiny the curls are :) Her hair was also very soft and not sticky or weighed down - there was lots of movement. Great results!

At night she wraped her hair - she said my curls looked "old fashioned" so she combed them out, but you can see that her hair is still sleek and shiny :)

According to the Motions website, “Motions new 3-step system lets you go from curly to straight and bounce right back to your natural curls.

The Bounce Back Formula preps, protects and seals your hair. So, unlike permanent straightening systems, your hair will return to its natural curly texture after one wash.”

After trying the 3-step system I saw that it performed exactly as the website stated. My niece's hair reverted back to her natural curls after just one wash.
Aside from the products in Motions 3-step heat styled system working exactly as promised, another plus is that the entire system is inexpensive. All of the products in the system are less than $10 each and a little goes a long way :)

Motions Straight Finish Heat Styled System products can be purchased online, at your local beauty supply, Target, WalMart and other retailers where hair products are sold.

To find out more about the Motions Straight Finish Heat Styled System visit the Motions' website.

Peace and Blessings ...

My Weekend of Hair Events, Curly Nikki, Pearls & Curls and Domestic Violence Fundraiser

Hey Everyone!

Wow I had such a super busy weekend - three natural hair events! And Bobeam Natural Products was among the sponsors/vendors at two of them.

The most unique of the three was Pearls & Curls Virtual Expo. It took place all online - so I didn't have to leave my house - and consisted of 3 days of engaging LIVE events - with informative chat rooms, giveaways and Virtual Gift Bags containing promo codes.

It was a great opportunity for everyone to interact with bloggers, product makers and other tranistioners, and naturals discussing hair and health topics.

It was so cool to chat with people, take notes on routines and products and of course take advantage of the giveaway codes as well :o)

Be sure to  visit the Pearls & Curls website (and follow them on Facebook and Twitter) to keep posted on their next events.

I also got the chance to hang out with Nikki Walton aka Curly Nikki (well and a few other curlfriends) in DC for her better than good hair book celebration sponsored by Shea Moisture. That event was was wonderful  - and did I mention FREE!!!

Curly Nikki is so super nice and although there were who knows how many other people there she interacted with everyone, making us all feel like we were her best buddies. (Her husband Gene is too funny and super nice as well).

Celebrity stylist Diane Bailey was on hand for hair consultations (did I mention she KNOWS me - lol I was too psyched) and Shondell product manger of Shea Moisture (who is also super nice and funny)  provided info on Shea Moisture products as well.

Check out my video of the event below - ignore my hair I'm doing a self imposed 3 month box braid challenge and have one more month to go :)

I also attended the S.E.L.F. Image Awards (a foundation that is geared towards helping victims of domestic violence). The event was called Are You Tender Headed. It was a fundraising event that featured the documentary by Winona Addison called Are You Tender Headed, style and make-up technicques and a hair panel.

Check out my video of the event  :o)

Pampered Pits Giftset Giveaway!

Happy New Year!

I'm going to start off the New Year with a giveaway. All Naptural is partnering up with Sydelle Moore, CEO of Sydelle Cosmetics for this wonderful giveaway of one of her Pampered Pits Luxury gift sets!

 Pampered Pits Luxury Gift Set

I had the privilege of interviewing Sydelle for a recent Examiner.com Business Spotlight article - check it out here - as well as working alongside her at one of Koil's By Nature's Meet-Up events Koils-n-Koctails (by the way, she is super nice and her hair is beautiful ;)

Anyway, for those who have yet to hear about the Sydelle Cosmetics line of natural products, their signature product is Pampered Pits, an organic, vegan natural creamy deodorant. I have been using it for a couple of months (I just HAD to buy some - I  have it in the Almond Elegance, Lavender Dream and Zen Blossom) - I am totally addicted and it works wonderfully! They all smell so good, but my favorite is the Almond Elegance.

Of course, the best part about Pampered Pits is that it actually works. But I also like the fact that it is natural, the scents are wonderful, but not overpowering and a little goes a long way. They even come unscented as well.

Sydelle Cosmetics also makes a natural hair and body whipped butter - Shea On You!, which comes unscented as well as in the same scents as Pampered Pits - those are next on my to-buy list. There are also men's products - "That Anti-Smelly Stuff" and  "That Anti-Ashy Stuff" they also can be purchased scented or unscented.

Again for more information on Sydelle, and Sydelle Cosmetics check out her interview on Examiner.com.

Now getting back to the giveaway ... as stated earlier, one lucky winner will receive one of Sydelle Cosmetics' Pampered Pits Luxury Gift sets which will include two 4 oz. tins (1 Pampered Pits and 1 Shea On You!) in a re-usable, luxury gift box.

The winner will be able to choose between one women's or men's gift sets and the scent.

Giveaway Details

Simply "Like" Sydelle Cosmetics Facebook page, then check out the website and write in the comments under this post which set - men's or women's and what scent you would like - be sure to leave your email information in the comment as well.

The giveaway will run for two weeks ending on January 21st and a winner will be chosen via Random.org.

That's it!  - Good Luck! And thanks Sydelle for sponsoring the giveaway :o)
